New to King of Prussia: True Food, A Health-Driven, Seasonal Restaurant

The “real food” craze continues its momentum with healthy restaurants opening all over the region. In operation for just under a month, True Food of King of Prussia brings healthy dishes with a fresh ambiance, both indoor and outdoor offering menu options for a variety of diets such as gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan. They also offer grass-fed meat and farm-raised fish menu items. Last week a few of our team members went out for lunch to True Foods and had a great experience, check it out below!

A quick note from the restaurant:

“Welcome to True Food Kitchen – A health-driven, seasonal restaurant merging nutrient-rich ingredients with a flavor-forward menu that rotates regularly to let guests experience great-tasting ingredients at the peak of their freshness. Our open kitchen brings guests closer to our culinary craft while showcasing that there’s nothing secret about the way we prepare our dishes.

Our scratch bar is brimming with a selection of wine, local beers and seasonal cocktails made using fresh-pressed fruit and vegetable juices paired with organic spirits.

We take great pride in a menu that caters to nearly every food preference with a variety of gluten-free, naturally organic, vegetarian and vegan offerings.

Our commitment to quality and creativity ensures a menu that encourages exploration all throughout the year. Every meal at True Food Kitchen is an opportunity to further your journey toward healthy living. See what the journey is all about by taking a peek at our video.”

Our Experience

Let’s begin with the exterior. The entire restaurant is enclosed in glass with an outdoor covered dining area. Orange and green accents bring a fresh appeal to the restaurant. One of our favorite features of the restaurant was when we find out all of the herbs used in our food were grown right out side of the restaurant in the white basins pictured below! They had a wide variety, such as oregano, sage, basil, and thyme!

The scenery of the outdoors continued inside with high ceilings and natural elements such as wood floors and tables, green plants for decor, and large lettering made out of plants to spell the words “Be True” written across the back, natural ship-lap wall.

The kitchen is completely open concept, all the way down to the produce and pantry. The staff welcomes guests to watch the chefs at the kitchen and even offers the option to dine in front of the kitchen at a large wood table with copper chairs.

The menu offers non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages and through the center of the dining space is a long bar to enjoy a drink, or for a more casual dining experience. We sat under the “Be True” lettering to enjoy our meal. Beginning with drinks we had the “Medicine Man” and “Kale Aid” refreshers – and on a hot & humid day, they were delicious.

For starters, we began with the Charred Cauliflower (GF & V): harissa tahini, medjool date, dill, mint, pistachio, and the Kale Guacamole (V): pink grapefruit, cilantro, roasted poblano, sunflower seeds & pita chips (can be made Gluten Free if you ask for a side of pita). Both were delicious and are pictured below.

For lunch, we ordered the Heirloom Tomato Pizza (V): grilled artichoke, roasted garlic, vegan almond ricotta, black truffle (GF crust available), the Teriaki Quinioa Bowl (V): broccoli, heirloom carrot, bok choy, mushroom, brown rice, avocado, toasted sesame (variety of proteins available to top bowl), and the Local Grilled Fish Tacos (GF): avocado, greek yogurt, cilantro, pickled onion, anasazi bean, cotija cheese (Grass-Fed Steak also an option).

Although we were too full for dessert, we did catch a glimpse of the Key Lime Pie (V, GF): coconut chantilly – a restaurant favorite!

Overall, this location was a hit – with options for everyone! The Full Menu is “vibrant [and] rotates regularly to allow guests the opportunity to experience great tasting menu items featuring the season’s ripest ingredients and produce at the peak of their freshness.”

True Food is more than just food: “Every meal at True Food Kitchen is an opportunity to further your journey toward healthy living. But our passion for healthy living extends far beyond our table. True Food Kitchen is more than just a restaurant, it’s a way of life….a place to become actively involved, engaged and of course, well fed. Deep down, these are the values and beliefs that we hold True.”
