How to Give your Home a Spring Refresh!

SPRING IS (technically) HERE!

Although there is still winter snow on the ground, Spring is officially here! Soon birds will be chirping, flowers will bloom and the sun will shine later and later into the evening. With the approach of this beautiful season,  it is important for sellers, and all home owners, to have their homes shimmering in the springtime sunshine. If you are planning to sell a house during this season, home staging is always necessary in the highly competitive spring market. It is important to make a great first (and lasting) impression on potential buyers the second they walk through the front door. The most important thing to do when getting ready to sell a home in the Spring Market is to give the home a refresh.
To keep it simple, a spring refresh be understood by the three C’s; Cleaning, Colors and Cosmetics.


Spring cleaning is the most important “C” of the spring staging checklist.
Here are a six things to do when spring cleaning to sell a home:

1) Wipe down all surface areas
2) Dust off fans, lamps and helves
3) Clean windows, mirrors and all other glass surfaces
4) Mop the floors and shampoo the carpets
5) Make sure the kitchen is spotless! (Clean appliances, clear off/clean the counter tops, and wipe down the back-splash)
6) Remove clutter! Box up anything that is not necessary to have out – excessive toys, decorations, family photos, etc.



Next, the most fun part of refreshing for the spring market, is adding color!

As spring approaches we begin to see greener grass, bright blue sky and flowers blooming!
When decorating for spring it is helpful to bring these outdoor colors inside. Every year Pantone releases colors that are said to be the colors of the season! The 10 Colors of Spring for 2017 are:

Primrose Yellow, Pale Dogwood, Hazelnut, Island Paradise, Greenery, Flame, Pink Yarrow, Niagara, Kale, and Lapis Blue. 



The last C of staging your home for the spring market is Cosmetics. Any dings, dents or scuffs that homeowners overlook standout like a sore thumb to potential buyers. You may know it but tend to overlook it, but buyers that are walking through the home are looking for flaws – they will see it (and they stand out in photos). It is important to fix any of these problems before listing your home. Also, be sure to finish up that “to-do” list that has grown over the years – these are the the things that buyers do not want to buy into when purchasing a home.
